   The  latest  on the grapevine

December 2007:

"Generation Kill" is in the making as of end October, when they started shooting in Maputo, Mozambique, with Sean in the role of corporal Daniel Redman.
Directed by Simon Cellan Jones & Susanna White, on a script written by Ed Burns & David Simon, the HBO mini-series is scheduled for TV release world-wide in 2008.

October 2007:
Don't miss Sean in the 5th episode of the Dubplate drama!

August 2007:
According to unconfirmed rumours, Sean has been cast in the HBO mini-series “Generation Kill”, produced by Company Pictures. The story is based on the eye witness accounts of writer Evan Wright, who followed one of the first battalions that entered Baghdad at the onset of the invasion of Iraq.

Also, it seems we'll be seeing more of Sean in the second season of Dubplate drama which is currently in the making.

July 2007:
The Sunday Express reports: One is Sean Brosnan, the hunky young son of the former James Bond star. And the other is Sean Brosnan, the star of Pot Noodle commercials and regional comedy theatre. No prizes for guessing which is which but after some 40 years in showbiz the older Sean has lodged a complaint to the actor's union Equity about the confusion of having two actors bearing the same name. Explains Tricia Howell, agent for the senior Sean: "My client is a lovely chap and doesn't like to make a fuss. But Pierce Brosnan's son did say he would put another letter like Sean B Brosnan into his name to distinguish it, and he hasn't." Indeed much confusion has resulted over their names since the 23-year-old Sean decided to go into acting. "We often get scripts with roles which are plainly aimed at the younger Sean, " sighs Miss Howell. But not often the other way round. Happily the Sean senior has plenty of work, albeit less glamorous. Last year he was in a production in Milton Keynes of When Did I Last See My Trousers? and this summer he is starring in There Goes The Bride at the Sheringham Little Theatre in Norfolk. The other Sean is, apparently, filming in a somewhat glossier production in Africa.

How amusingly pathetic! One is almost impelled to ask “Is this guy for real?”. And the answer is: “You betcha!”.  – In fact, a few years back, when he launched his website, he  actually describes himself as “the real Sean Brosnan”. Get that?! The REAL one! *LOL* Oh pe-lease, how self absorbed can a grown man get?? Let’s all be merciful and spare the poor fellow an anxiety attack by not alerting him to the fact that there is yet ANOTHER actor named Sean Brosnan (residing in Long Beach, CA), not to mention all the other (non-fictional) Sean Brosnans that come to light if you google the name on the internet.  :)

I don’t quite get it. Why does this man, who is in his 60’s and has a long list of accomplishments on his CV, feel so intimidated by our young hero? Clearly, they will not be auditioning for the same part anyway, so our Seany poses no threat whatsoever to the career opportunities of the oldtimer. Mrs Howell herself states that a glance at the script will reveal which one of the SBs it is intended for…

Just how many wrongly delivered scripts are we talking about here, anyway? Truckloads full, or…? If it’s the odd envelope every other month or so, why not simply courteously PASS THEM FORWARD? Ah, well that seems to be because there is more passing on than receiving, I gather. (?)

So, there are more scripts calling for young, fit men in their 20’s than for older guys in their 60’s?! What else is new? – And yet, I am told that the foremost shortage is in scripts for mature females!? So instead of lamenting that he’s no longer 20, maybe the oldtimer should be grateful that at least he's not a woman!?

But instead, he resorts to this bitter transference. Aided by his agent, he blames Seany for answering to his birthgiven name as well as for the actions of other people (i.e. media and supporters). As if Seany has any control over how the media refers to him or what his supporters call him in discussion forums and on websites?!?

For the record, Sean DID put a B into his name. His supporters all know that his stage name is Sean Brenden (check the index page!), but when we talk of him, we refer to him simply as Sean. Why? Well, because he always was Sean to us, I suppose, because it is the name his parents gave him. Fact: our young hero did not TAKE the name to spite the oldtimer, he was GIVEN IT by his parents AT BIRTH. So honestly, I think he has equal rights to his name!

Oh, and I don't know about the media, but his supporters don't get him confused with others carrying the same name, I assure you.

February 2006:
Contactmusic quotes Sean as saying "I hope I'll be cast  as 007. I've always wanted to play the part."

I am amazed. Not by the statement - if in deed Sean did say that. No, I am amazed that with all the exciting things currently unfolding in Sean's professional life, this is what Contactmusic considers newsworthy?!? Tabloid points to Contactmusic!
